Summary Notes:
Large turnout for Science Sunday with more interest than expected for silver mirroring. Mirroring took up the entire Science Sunday period so we did not get to the 3D print chamber development part. Thanks to glassworks for the collaboration: the hand-blown then silver mirrored ornaments turned out great!

Pre-Science Sunday Information:
Fun Activity: Silver Mirroring: Make your own shiny Christmas ornaments
Have you blown your own glass ornaments with glass blowing? Want to make a makerspace logo ornament? Interested in seeing the mirroring process in person and learning a bit of chemistry? Then this activity is for you! ($5 each materials fee - $3 to silver ornaments you bring).

Research Project: 3D-Print Vapor Smoothing Chamber Working Session 2
- Two vapor chamber smoothing designs were selected for development. We will be developing a simple chamber that anyone can build in order to further open source knowledge as well as a more complicated chamber that gives us more control over the process conditions in terms of controlling temperature, pressure, acetone concentrations, etc.
- There will be two main objectives and teams: Build/Design and Metrology. Everyone will be working together during the group working session on Sundays. Teams are more for volunteering for specific additional take-home work.
Build Goals for the week:
- Come up with a initial design and complete BOM so that any necessary parts can be ordered over the Christmas break prior to the next 3D Print Science Sunday in Jan.
- Use CAD software to make feet for the polycarbonate blast shield and 3D print those feet. (Opportunity for someone interested in learning CAD software to watch/give it a try for a simple object)
Metrology Goals for the week:
- Design sample holder and test coupons
- Complete a smoothing demonstration showing the difference between chemical-mechanical pre-polished surfaces and untreated surfaces at various smoothing times
- Get an image of the interface - before and after smoothing to enable development of analysis procedures/software
