I, Jayson Woods, am submitting my Statement of Intent to run for the Board of Directors.
Whether I’m running for a position, joining a committee, or simply as a dedicated member, my primary focus is to support and help DMS continue its mission to empower creativity, innovation, and education within our community of makers.
My intent is to ensure that DMS remains a vibrant, inclusive, and accessible space where all members, regardless of their skill level or background, can explore their interests, grow, and collaborate. I am committed to fostering a culture that promotes safety, mutual respect, and a willingness to share knowledge. It’s essential that every member feels supported in their journey, whether they are just starting or are experienced creators looking to expand their skills.
As a member, I aim to actively participate in the space and help where it is needed. Whether through mentoring new members, leading workshops, or offering help with projects, I hope to strengthen the sense of community and collaboration that makes DMS unique. I also seek to engage with other organizations, businesses, and educational institutions in the area to expand DMS’s influence and promote the growth of the maker movement throughout Dallas and beyond.
One of my key goals is to work towards continuous improvement by making sure communication is clear and transparent within the space. Regular feedback from members should be a key driver in how we evolve and adapt as an organization, ensuring that our resources are used effectively and that everyone’s voices are heard.
A little about me: I have been a member of DMS for 12 years, and throughout my time here, I’ve gained valuable experience in 3D Fab, Glassworks, Electronics, Vector, C.A., Automotive, Laser, and Animatronics. I’ve also been a Board member, chaired many of the committees around here, and was an Officer. Outside of DMS, I’m involved in Classic chassis car club (President) and work for a company that helps hospitals with Communication, which I believe further contributes to my ability to contribute to the space effectively.
I am excited about the opportunity to serve DMS and continue to make it a place where makers of all kinds can thrive. If you have any questions or would like to discuss my intent further, please feel free to reach out to me through Talk (engpin).
If I am elected, I’ll do my best to be a dedicated and proactive member, ensuring that DMS remains a leader in the maker community. Regardless of the outcome, I will continue to support and contribute to DMS in every way I can.
Thank you for your consideration
