The thing you're looking for is in a bin with a yellow lid
Missing:
- big red arrow (last seen on garage door near ceramics)
Racing gear:
Helmet Specs best to worst: FIA 8860-2018 ABP (for F1 drivers), FIA 8860-2018, Snell SA2020, Snell SA2015
FIA allows slightly less force in a high speed impact, 275G to your head at 9 m/s versus 300 for Snell
Lemons only allows the two newest standards, so when the 2025 (late 2025) spec comes out the 2015 helmets will expire
Nicer helmets tend to be lighter and have more features (drink port, built in radio, head chilling, etc)
Fit is important too, some heads don't like some helmets
Suits, Shoes, Gloves, Socks, Underwear, Balaclavas all use the same rating system
Ratings best to worst SFI 3.2a/20, 3.2a/15, 3.2a/10, FIA 8856-2018, FIA 8856-2000, SFI 3.2a/5, SFI 3.2a/3, SFI 3.2a/1
In a gasoline fire those will protect you for 40/30/19/12/11/10/7/3 seconds
The single layer suits (3.2a/3 and 3.2a/1) are lemons legal with underwear and they are cheaper
If you get a 3.2a/5 or better you don't need underwear, you're only required to wear a balaclava if you have a beard or hair that's longer than the helmet
Vendor options: summit racing is local and has 'murican muscle vibes, Bridgemoto has branded JDM drifty stuff, Demon Tweeks is good if you're latte-swilling euro trash (they can be cheaper or more expensive depending on where exchange rates are, we have a "sponsorship" discount of like 10%), Race Image has used pro stuff if you're a poser or like wearing logos, OG Racing and Wine Country Motorsports are good online resellers
Smileys is also still around in Mesquite as well. They had more gear put to look through/try on than summit did. They're the best local source.
