Sewing Home

The Sewing Special Interest group is for DMS members who are interested in sewing in a wide variety of projects. From apparel to quilting to leather, the Sewing group has a sewing machine that can work with almost any project. In addition to the equipment owned by DMS, members are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines/sergers to use in classes or at events to further sewing skills.

The Sewing SIG is currently housed under the Creative Arts committee.

How to Join

The Sewing SIG is open to all DMS members, from novice to expert. Please add your name in alphabetical order to this Wiki and include your TALK handle.

   (note: some project classes will include the intro skills to these machines or you can get one-on-one training to verify that you understand how to thread the machines, wind/properly insert a bobbin, and stitch a straight line.)
2. "Heavy-duty" home sewing machine

Please note: If you own a sewing machine and/or serger and know how to use them (or want to build your knowledge) you are encouraged to bring them for project classes and events. Ask the class instructor in advance if you have a machine but are not absolutely comfortable with threading, stitch settings, bobbin setup, etc.
