Statement of Intent – Board of Directors
Jayson Woods

I, Jayson Woods, am submitting my Statement of Intent to run for the Board of Directors.

Whether serving in an elected position, contributing on a committee, or participating as a dedicated member, my primary focus is to support and strengthen Dallas Makerspace’s mission to empower creativity, innovation, and education within our community.

My goal is to help ensure that DMS remains a vibrant, inclusive, and accessible space where members of all backgrounds and skill levels can explore their interests, grow their abilities, and collaborate with others. I am committed to fostering a culture grounded in safety, mutual respect, and the open sharing of knowledge. Every member should feel supported in their journey, whether they are just beginning or are experienced makers expanding their skills.

One of the things I value most about Dallas Makerspace is the diversity and strength of its committees. I genuinely enjoy working with and supporting the many committees we have, each bringing its own expertise, personality, and energy to the space. These groups are the backbone of DMS, and I believe empowering and supporting them is essential to our continued success.

As a long-time member, I strive to actively contribute wherever needed. This includes mentoring new members, painting walls, tearing up floors, pulling cables, and assisting with projects. I believe these efforts help strengthen the collaborative spirit that makes DMS unique. Additionally, I aim to build and maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to expand the reach and impact of the maker movement throughout Dallas and beyond.

A key priority for me is continuous improvement through clear and transparent communication. Member feedback should be a driving force in how we grow and adapt as an organization. By listening and responding effectively, we can ensure our resources are used wisely and that every voice within the space is heard.

A little about me: I have been a member of DMS for 13 years and have gained hands-on experience in areas including 3D Fabrication, Glassworks, Electronics, Vector, Creative Arts, Automotive, Laser, and Animatronics. I have previously served as a Board member, chaired and vice chaired multiple committees, and held an Officer position. Outside of DMS, I am President of Classic Chassis car club and work for a company focused on hospital communications which has given me experience that has strengthened my organizational and communication skills.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve DMS and help ensure it remains a place where makers of all kinds can thrive. If you have any questions or would like to discuss my candidacy further, please feel free to reach out to me on Talk (engpin).

If elected, I will be a dedicated and proactive Board member, committed to helping DMS continue as a leader in the maker community. Regardless of the outcome, I will continue to support and contribute to DMS in every way I can.

Thank you for your consideration.
