Details Students completing this basic orientation& safety class will have access most of the tools in the wood shop.

Introduction to the basic tools and best safety practices of the woodshop.

Students who complete the course will be certified for use on the miter saw, joiner, plainer, table saws, band saws, and compound sander. Students will get hands-on experience with each of the tools as they take a section of the board down to a squared-up piece of lumber.

Students should come with close-toed shoes and a way to tie back any long hair, as well as remove rings, gloves, and other jewelry.

Cost is $15 payable to the instructor via cash, Zelle or Venmo.

Making Etched Coasters on the Thunder Laser - Perfect for Beginners $35

**Great First Thunder Laser Class - Mini Laser Boot Camp Included**

**Note:** Everyone will leave with their own wooden coaster they have designed and laser cut.

Doesn't require any prior Laser Training - If you are curious about Lasers, come and join us.
Every attendee actually learns how to run the Thunder Laser by auto-tracing and etching their own favorite animal.

Have you ever wondered how those fancy looking etched coasters are made? You will leave understanding how it all works and what is required to be successful. Even if you have never used the Laser before, you will finish the class with many awesome new skills.

First time Laser users not only learn how to use the Laser and also how make an awesome coaster all by themselves. Most importantly, everyone makes both their own sample etched animal and a fancy etched coaster.

First, everyone goes through the mini-“Laser Boot Camp”.

Note: We will be reviewing fire safety procedures & Laser use time tracking

Every attendee actually learns the basics of how to run the Laser by making their own etched animal.
1. Download animal graphic file from the Internet
2. Import the file into Lightburn
3. Modify and scale the image as necessary
4. Learn about Layers, Cut Settings, and Order of Operations
5. Determine the correct laser settings to use based on the intended etch depth
6. Send the file to the Laser
7. Load the file into the Laser machine buffer
8. Load material to be cut.
9. Set the Laser origin
10. Frame & verify it will cut where intended
11. Fire the Laser and create the item.

Next you will learn how to make your very own fancy Etched Coaster.

1. Select from many designs the coaster you want to make
2. Mask your coaster material
3. Determine Laser settings
4. Make any adjustments as required.
5. Position the provided material in the laser
6. Configure the Laser settings from the control panel
7. Fire the Laser and then verify the cut.
8. Run another pass if needed.
9. Learn to check your laser time and how to pay
10. Amaze your family and friends.

This class is limited to only six students as everyone will be gaining hands-on experience. Everyone will take turns using the design software, laser control software, and the Thunder Laser.

After you learn the secrets, think of all the great gifts you will be able to make.

First, everyone goes through the mini-“Laser Boot Camp”.

Every attendee actually learns how to run the Laser by making their own wooden animal.

1. Download animal graphic file from the Internet
2. Import the file into Lightburn
3. Apply the Lightburn auto-trace feature to turn the bitmap image into a vector
4. Scale the vector to nice size to cut
5. Determine the correct laser settings to use based on the material thickness
6. Send the file to the Laser
7. Load the file into the Laser machine buffer
8. Load material to be cut.
9. Set the Laser origin
10. Frame & verify it will cut where intended
11. Fire the Laser and create the item.

Next you will learn how to make Fancy Laser Boxes.

Review the box design software.
1. Select from many designs the box you want to make.
2. Determine kerf sttings
3. Make any adjustments as required.
4. Position the provided material in the laser
5. Configure the Laser settings
6. Fire the Laser and then verify the cut.
7. Assemble your box
8. Amaze your family and friends.

This class is limited to only six students as everyone will be gaining hands-on experience. Everyone will take turns using the design software & Thunder Laser.

After you learn the secrets, think of all the great gifts you will be able to make.
