Kobin Caddick vote on funds for fume hood exhaust fan Fume hood in Science needs a contractor to install a properly sized exhaust fan The Science Lab area has a fume hood that was donated several hears ago, and we now have a quote from a contractor to finish the installation for $12,517.00
This price assumes we can use the existing roof penetration and 10" epoxy-coated galvanized steel ducting.
Discussion items:
  1. There's an AC unit located 12 feet from the roof penetration, so we need to find out if this unit exchanges fresh air from above the roof where it can potentially pull in fumes from the hood exhaust.
  2. We need to loop in the City of Carrollton building inspections department because local code may not let us put on a 10' exhaust stack without a matching 10' high fence around the roof
  3. We still need another contractor to do any roof work or flashing around the fan unit, and an electrician to install the 120 volt / 20 amp disconnect at the roof mounted blower.

Notes, regulations, and code relating to the fume hood:

See quote BJ-9521 Dallas Makerspace 6-13-22.pdf

MOTION to approve up to $15k for the fume hood
conditional upon:
* code approval
* landlord approval

    most of our printers are consumer grade
    this is a plan to get a much better quality

    good draw for people
    large volume
    cost includes new curing and wash chamber

 Question
    elegoo interaction - likely a saturn/jupiter
        those are significantly smaller
    any downside on waiting?
        not much downside
        mostly a supply chain

    dual head printer is 2nd priority

    donation of mosaic palette
        might be able to use that for
        multi-color capability

MOTION to approve $4500 spend for the 3D printer chosen.
