I, Garreth, am submitting my Statement of Intent to run for the Board of Directors.
95% of you don't know me, but only 10% of members vote in these elections I hear. What's up with that?
My experience at DMS is:
many things that many people care about sort of work.
I'd like to make them
sort of work 5% better.
Without any drama.
If elected, I promise I won't get burned out - I'm pretty tasty at administration and saying no. I'm not going to be there every day doing stuff. I'm more of a meetings and chill kind of board member.
If you're the 5% who've seen me weld, 3D Print, cut things with lasers, drive racecars, quilt, sew or make stickers, I'm better at admin than I am at making stuff.
In my 20 month career as a DMS member, I have successfully registered the Motorsports trailer with the DMV. That's the level of admin I can bring to bear on the board.

In the time I've known him at the makerspace, Garreth has welcomed many new members, encouraged and engaged volunteers to take on projects, and personally tackled a lot of annoying administrative tasks that noone else wanted to do. He's even-keeled, funny, and personable. With that set of superpowers, I think he would be a tremendous addition to the board of directors.

I have worked with Garreth on a couple volunteer days at the space. He has always been hard working and motivational to the other volunteers. I think he would be an excellent choice for the board.
