Welcome to the World of DMS Lasering!
Congratulations on finding our Source page, the official record of the committee and chock full of useful information for members. Makers are always learning, so there will be changes as the Laser Committee becomes more knowledgeable about operation and maintenance. Frequent changes makes it difficult for you, our members, to stay up to date. Fortunately, technology makes it easy. Simply Watch this page to receive change notices by email. Help govern the area by joining the Laser Committee, there's always room for more people. Check the calendar for meeting times or find us online. Most meetings are followed up by a brief maintenance day and are a great opportunity to learn more about the lasers. Happy Lasering!

Details Etch Forever: Turning Photos into Timeless Art
Host Liam Luu
Cost $0.00

Turn your most meaningful moments into art that lasts a lifetime. In this can’t-miss Thunder Laser Photo Etching Class, you’ll learn how to transform a simple photograph into a stunning, permanent engraving on wood, glass, and more.

Bring a portrait of someone you love—a family member, a friend, even a beloved pet—and we’ll guide you step-by-step through the process of preparing it for the laser. Using Photoshop, you’ll learn how to brighten, sharpen, and enhance your image so every detail shines. Then, we’ll show you how to convert your photo into the optimal format for photo etching, unlocking the true potential of your design.

From there, you’ll dive into LightBurn, the powerful software that drives the laser. You’ll learn how to dial in the perfect speed, power, and settings to achieve crisp detail, rich contrast, and professional-quality results across different materials.

But this class is more than just technique—it’s about meaning. There’s something powerful about taking a fleeting digital image and engraving it into a physical surface that can be held, gifted, and passed down for generations. Whether you’re creating a heartfelt gift or preserving your own memories, you’ll leave with the ability to turn moments into heirlooms.

Important: The quality of your final piece starts with your photo. Please bring a high-resolution, clear image (not pixelated or blurry). The better your image, the more stunning and detailed your engraving will be.

By the end of this workshop, you won’t just walk away with a beautiful finished piece—you’ll leave with the skills, confidence, and creative power to continue capturing and preserving memories in a truly unforgettable way.

This class will not train and clear you to use the laser. Make sure you take the certification class to use the laser on your own .
